What Happens in an Alignment Service?

During an alignment service, there are three main tests that our technicians perform to check your alignment. If they see a problem, they are able to fix the issues, replace the parts, or do the work that is needed to align your vehicle’s wheels.
The first test is called the camber test. Camber is checked from the front of the vehicle to see if the wheels tilt inward or outward. If a problem lies here, it could be bearings or ball joints that are causing the problem.
The next test is called the toe. The toe test is performed by looking at the vehicle from above. The toe tells if the wheels are angled inward or outward. A misaligned toe may be present if the tire is worn down on one side or another, and the wear pattern shows sharp on one side and smooth on the other. Usually, this occurs because the tires have been improperly inflated or if regular tire rotation has not occurred.
The last test is the caster test, observed from the side of the vehicle, and it checks the angle of the steering axis. Caster allows for dexterous handling of the vehicle on curves and cornering when driving and it ensures smooth steering.
